Despite high safety standards, the degree of involvement of the contractors in the safety canon of the companies frequently leaves a lot to be desired. For example at a major power supply company in North Germany, training of the personnel from contractors/ subcontractors (outside companies) was limited to memos and verbal briefings.
The necessary training texts should be changed with multimedia support, the objective being that the contents which are relevant to safety together with the legal requirements and the way in which these are conveyed in terms of perception psychology should then guarantee improved industrial safety. This is to be achieved without generating any additional personnel costs and administrative input.
ASIP has fulfilled these requirements in a web-based, interactive form.
The system is successfully up and running at three power plant sites. The administration site is to follow shortly.
Core elements of ASIP are comprehensive instruction in possible sources of danger, up-to-date site and process information, as well as the administrative verification and recording of the training of outside and in-house employees.
ASIP is always made-to-measure for the particular branch of business. Thus, for automotive engineering and the construction industry the focus is on harmonising the protective measures and on co-ordination. In the field of chemical engineering on the other hand, the emphasis is on laboratory equipment and on the handling of dangerous substances. For service companies working in the fields of maintenance and repair, the key area of focus is ?initial training?. In the waste disposal sector, the training programme attaches special importance to the so-called further authoritative documents. Administration sites on the other hand require the portal to support compliance with the security regulations.
